Scientific conference on the theme “Huseyn Javid and mythological thinking” was held at the Institute of Folklore
On the 15th of November in 2022 the scientific conference on the theme “Huseyn Javid and mythological thinking” was held at the Institute of Folklore on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet, writer and playwright Huseyn Javid. General Director of the Institute, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov opened the conference with an introduction speech. First of all, the academician mentioned the importance of the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on the 24th of September in 2022 regarding the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the birth of Huseyn Javid and pointed out that a series of jubilee events were organized in the country and abroad by the Ministry of Culture and ANAS in connection with this decree. Later speaking about H.Javid’s mastership, M.Kazimoglu-Imanov mentioned him as an artist who, being a representative of Azerbaijani romanticism, gave a wide place to mythological thinking and put the ideal in the foreground more than reality.
After the opening speech of the academician, the reports such as “The image of the devil: in mythological-religious consciousness and written literature (on the base of the play “Devil” by H.Javid” by PhD Elchin Galiboglu, “Folklore motifs as public ideology in Huseyn Javid’s activity” by PhD., associate professor Atif Islamzade were made. Executive Director of the institute, PhD., associate professor Afag Ramazanova also spoke about H.Javid’s activity, who had a great creative heritage and was one of those writers who managed to rise to the top of Azerbaijani literature. She added that if he had not been a victim of repression, he could have created a large number of great works.
After the opening meeting the scientific conference on the theme “Huseyn Javid and mythological thought” continued its work in two sections. More than ten reports dedicated to H.Javid’s activity such as “The artistic-aesthetic place of folklore in Huseyn Javid’s activity” by PhD Sevinj Aliyeva, “Romanticism and folklore in Huseyn Javid’s activity” by PhD Shabnam Mammadova, “Huseyn Javid’s romanticism: the poetics of myth” by PhD Giymat Maharramli, “Folklore motifs in Huseyn Javid’s activity” by PhD Khayala Aghayeva, “Mythological thought and universal idea in Huseyn Javid’s work “Devil” by PhD Gulnar Osmanova, “Huseyn Javid and folklore” by PhD Aposh Valiyev, “Huseyn Javid’s heritage in Professor Jalal Gasimov’s researches” by Sevda Gasimova, “Texts about the devil in Azerbaijani folklore and Huseyn Javid’s concept “Devil” by Aygul Gurbanova, “The image of mother in Huseyn Javid’s activity” by Tahira Valiyeva, etc. were made at the sections.
