The International Conference on the theme Karabakh
On the 10th of November the senior scientific worker of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD Elchin Galiboglu made a speech on the theme “The classification of legends of Karabakh region and features of idea-content” in the online event titled “Victory Day and Memory of Martyrs” (8-10 November 2021/ Karabakh, Azerbaijan). It was noted in the speech that Azerbaijani folklore has rich traditions in the degree of its antiquity. The roots of antiquity and richness are connected with the fact that our ancestors were the ancient inhabitants of these lands. Although the innate mythical feeling in the initial thought was based on the simple idea of our time in comparison with the principles of understanding, this level is enriched inwardly, and the individual innate feeling gave information about the manifestation of national consciousness.
In the article “Garabagh folklore” (Volume 5) included in the anthology of Azerbaijan folk tales of ANAS Institute of Folklore and the texts of legend published in 10 volumes “Garabagh: folklore is also a history” were analyzed. Legends occupy a separate place among folklore samples collected from Karabakh region in different years. In general, one can find here the variants of legends in Azerbaijani folklore and numerous motives. As paying for the ideological-content features of legends, the texts coming from the spirit of the people, which, in essence, attest to humanity, carry in themselves the shades of humane, sympathetic attitude to good, hateful and indignant attitude to evil.
