The round table seminar on the theme “Let’s love and protect our native language” was held
On the 20th of February a round table seminar on the theme “Let's love and protect our native language” was held at Sumgayit State University. Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov also took part at the round table, which was online. He greeted the participants and thanked the university administration and the entire staff for the invitation. Speaking on the theme “The struggle for the native language as part of the struggle for independence” the academician mentioned that for a long time the main goal of the struggle for the native language was to gain the status of the state language of Azerbaijani Turkish. The academician noted that the struggle, which began in the 13th century with Izzeddin Hasanoglu and native language literature, had come a long way before the establishment of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan. Emphasizing that one of the biggest struggles for Azerbaijani Turkish is the difficulties encountered with the Arabic-Persian languages, the academician said that the basis of our proud speech about our native language literature was to confirm our language in that struggle and conflict. The academician estimated the existence of the independent Azerbaijani state as one of the biggest and most serious stages in the history of the development of our language.
The event was attended by scientists, intellectuals and educators from various universities in Azerbaijan.
