Irag – Turkman folklore environment
The book “Irag – Turkman folklore environment” by PhD, associate professor Sakina Gaybaliyeva was published at the Institute of Folklore ANAS. In the book it is said about the information of settlement area of Turkmen living in Iraq, the number of population about 4 million immortalizing our national and spiritual values and different Arabic and Turkish sources. The book also deals with literary currents spread in Irag-Turkmen literature of the 20th century, especially the genre features of folk poetry. The ashug activity, the different genres of Irag-Turkmen literature such as “khoyrat”, “mani”, provebs, sayings, tales and eposes, the ceremonies and the studies about them are investigated. The book, which drew attention to the Irag-Turkmen press, has taken a long and complex historical path of development, considered the activity of many press organs published in the middle of the 20th century. Some magazines and newspapers such as “Gardashlig” (“Brotherhood”), etc. which widely covers the publication and study of oral folk literature are involved in the analysis of the book. The issues of publication and research of folklore are also mentioned in the book and the portraits-essays about the activities of many intellectuals, including Eta Tarzibashi, Shakir Sabir Zabit, Muhammad Khurshid Daguglu and Abdullatif Bandaroglu are given.
