Folklore Institute of ANAS was represented at the 30th anniversary of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme
On the 3rd-4th of November the international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the program of the UNESCO chairs was held at the UNESCO in Paris. Project Coordinator Fazil Gasimov represented UNESCO “Ashiq Shamshir” chair on folk musical heritage and epos traditions at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. The anniversary conference was organized in order to celebrate the achievements of the program over the past 30 years, to develop interdisciplinary dialogue and inter-sectoral mobilization. The two-day event dedicated to the theme “Transformation of knowledge for a fair and sustainable future” was held in the spirit of scientific, moral, intellectual and academic solidarity.
At the opening of the conference UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azulay’s video appeal to the conference participants was broadcast and Federico Mayor Zaragoza, the author of the idea of the program of UNESCO chairs and former director-general of UNESCO, made a lecture.
Established in 1992, the unit of the department of education of the Republic of Azerbaijan/UNESCO has been launched in order to increase the exchange of experience among higher education institutions and promote joint cooperation. Established in 1992 the unit of the Department of higher education was a Jubilee Conference of 110 UNESCO chairs from 850 countries of the world, which provided an opportunity to establish new contacts to strengthen cooperation among UNESCO chairs. The experts who attended the event emphasized that the program of the Departments of the unit is more needed than ever at a time when the world is faced with numerous social, economic, political, technological and environmental problems and intercultural conflicts. The speakers, in addition to highlighting the past achievements of the program, revealed future-oriented approaches and discussed ways to contribute to increasing the coverage of science.
