Ashig Festival in Sivas
On the 5th-7th of November “Two States One Nation”, poetry contest and 14th Sivas Ashig Festival jointly organized by the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Sivas Municipality, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, SIFAHOD and Esas Der was held. Ashugs and poets from cities of Turkey such as Kars, Erzurum, Kahramanmaras, Istanbul, Erzinjan, Sivas, Eskishehir, Konya, Hatay participated in the event attended by scientists, poets and ashugs from Azerbaijan. The employees of the Institute of Folklore PhD., associate professor Galib Sayilov, PhD., associate professor Ilhama Gasabova, PhD., associate professor Shakir Albaliyev and poet - publicist Mahir Javadov attended the event. Rector of the University of Sivas professor Alim Yildiz welcomed the guests at the higher education institution. During the meeting, the Professor talked about the conferences organized jointly by Baku State University and Sivas Cumhuriyet University, the symposium dedicated to Imamaddin Nasimi, as well as the free education of Karabakh veterans, families of martyrs and their relatives at the university. Then the head of Sivas Municipality Hilmi Bilgin welcomed the guests and spoke about the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood, cultural, socio-political relations between the countries.
The coordinator of the event on Azerbaijan, the leading researcher of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD., associate professor Ilhama Gasabova made a speech at the opening ceremony. Delivering the greetings of the director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov, she drew attention to the importance of the event, educational relations between Azerbaijan - Sivas Cumhuriyet University and ashig art.
