The book “Southern Azerbaijan Folklore. Book 6” has been published
The book “Southern Azerbaijan Folklore. Book 6” has been published by the employees of the department “Southern Azerbaijan folklore” of the Institute of Folklore ANAS. Let’s note that in the book the eposes told by the southern Azerbaijanis have been collected.
The leader of the project is the director of the institute, academician Mukhtar Imanov, the designer is the head of the South Azerbaijan Folklore Department, Ph.D. Matanat Abbasova and editor is Soltan Imamaliyev. The folklorist from the Southern Azerbaijan Boyukbey Alakbaroglu has written the eposes from the epos tellers and ashugs, but the employees of the department have transliterated those eposes from Persian alphabet into the Azerbaijan alphabet. Matanat Abbasova has written the introduction to the book with 416 pages published in the publishing house “Elm ve tehsil”. The texts of twelve eposes and a kind of poem composed by ashugs have been included to the book: “Yusif and Zuleykha”, “Shirin and Farhad”, “Yadigar and Gulabatin”, “Abbas and Gulgaz”, “Dililgar and Mahjamal”, “Zohra and Mahammad”, “Ashug Asad and Saltanat”, “Sanan”, “Jahanafruz and Jamshid”, “Ashug Leysan”, “Gargarli Mahammad and Mahpare khanum”, “Tahir and Zohra”, “ An adventure between Ashug Hasan Gafar and Ashug Aziz”. Writing the epos texts the dialect and accent features have been kept, the originality of these language facts has not been touched. Though the different variants of the eposes are known to the modern readers the variants in this book are published wholly for the first time.
