The scientific conference on the theme “Molla Panah Vagif and folklore”
was held
On the 21st of June the scientific conference on the theme “Molla Panah Vagif and folklore” was held by the support of the Institute of Folklore. The event was opened by ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami, Academician Isa Habibbeyli. Highly appreciating the importance of the Order of President Ilham Aliyev “On holding the 300th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Molla Panah Vagif” the scientist spoke about the work carried out in accordance with the approved plan of measures. He noted that Vagif’s work was a permanent object of study, his works were published in a mass circulation and his anniversaries were celebrated. In 1982, on the direct initiative and with the participation of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, the opening of a majestic monument erected on the grave of the poet was held in the ancient cultural center of Azerbaijan - Shusha.
Recalling that in connection with the 300th anniversary of the name of Molla Panah Vagif was included in the “Program of anniversaries of outstanding personalities and significant events of 2016-2017” UNESCO, academician I.Habibbeyli characterized the announcement of the “Year of Mollah Panah” by the member states of the organization TURKSOY as a literary and historical event with an important meaning.
Academician I.Habibbayli stressed that, the work of the poet Molla Panah Vagif was a stage between the classical tradition and the literature of the new period. Describing the poet as an immortal master of the word, who founded the outstanding literary school with his traditions, the vice-president of ANAS noted that by creating unique samples of poetry, Molla Panah Vagif had a significant influence on the development of a new direction of national literature.
Then the director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov, in his speech spoke about the life and basic features of Molla Panah Vagif's creativity, the role of oral folk thinking and folklore in the rich literary heritage of the great poet.
At the plenary session, were delivered reports by corresponding member of ANAS Kamran Aliyev on “Realism of Molla Panah Vagif and Folklore”, Professor Naile Rahimbeyli on “Creativity of Molla Panah Vagif and Folk Music”, Doctor of Philology of Islam Sadig on “Heritage of Molla Panah Vagif and Azerbaijani ashug poetry of the 19th century”.
The discussions were continued in the sessions of the sections.
